MCF Fashion Week Finale Party 2010 Red Carpet
On February 19, 2010, MCF held a Fashion Week Finale Party and runway show with proceeds going to the MCF Academy. Many thanks to sponsors Hans Humes & Greylock Capital, host Nolé Marin, designer Melani von Alexandria, and all of the guests and supporters who are making the academy a reality.
MCF Academy Groundbreaking, November 2009
On November 18, 2009, MacDella Cooper and Director Tammy Tibbetts traveled to Liberia for two weeks to work with the builders and administrators on the beginnings of the MCF Academy and to visit the children in MCF's sponsorship program.
2009 Sixth Annual Sharing the Light Gala
On November 6, the MacDella Cooper Foundation hosted its 6th Annual Sharing the Light Gala at the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York, hosted by Cali Carlin and Lonnie Quinn of CBS. Proceeds from the event benefit the MCF Academy, designed by Winka Dubbeldam of Archi-Tectonics, NYC.
MCF Champions of Education Benefit: Red Carpet, Dinner, and Fashion Show in the Hamptons
The MacDella Cooper Foundation hosted an evening of fashion and fundraising on July 25 in the Hamptons. Following an afternoon polo match, guests walked the red carpet, dined, and enjoyed presentations and an exclusive fashion show at Four Seasons Caterer. 100% of proceeds from the evening supported the MCF Academy, the first tuition-free school in post-war Liberia, which will open in Fall 2010.
MCF Champions of Education Benefit: Polo Match in the Hamptons
The MacDella Cooper Foundation hosted a Champions of Education Benefit in the Hamptons on July 25 to benefit the MCF Academy. The first portion of the event featured a VIP tent at the Mercedes-Benz Bridgehampton Polo Match.
MCF Fashion Week After Party 2009
On February 20, 2009, the MacDella Cooper Foundation hosted a Fashion Week After Party, with all proceeds going to the MCF Academy. The evening featured the unveiling of the academy designs by architect Winka Dubbeldam, a live bidding to purchase academy classrooms and supplies, and an exclusive runway show by Project Runway finalist Korto Momolu.
MCF Children's Christmas Party 2008
MCF volunteer Billie Gibson traveled to Liberia on Christmas Day to throw the abandoned children and orphans that MCF supports a Christmas party. Joe Debblay, director of operations in Monrovia, and Amina Sirleaf, MCF ambassador, joined her.
2008 Holiday Gift Drive
On December 12th, MCF hosted a holiday gift drive at Pop Burger to collect toys and funds for the annual Children's Christmas Party in Monrovia. We raised nearly $1,800!
2008 Fifth Annual Sharing the Light Gala
Governor David A. Paterson, Liberian Ambassador M. Nathaniel Barnes, Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, Celeste Johnson, Ceslie Armstrong, and Barbara Brennan attended the 5th Annual MCF gala on October 23 at the New York Athletic Club, to show their support for the orphans and abandoned children of Liberia.
2007 Children's Christmas Party
On December 25, 2007, MCF hosted its third children’s Christmas party in Monrovia, Liberia. The day consisted of music, dancing, games, and dinner for the children. Each child received a back pack for school and new black dress shoes.
2007 Fourth Annual Sharing the Light Gala
The 4th Annual Sharing the Light Gala was held on October 10, 2007 at the New York Athletic Club. Quintin Primo, Chairman and CEO of Capri Capital, and Elizabeth Galt, socialite and humanitarian, hosted the event with keynote remarks by Richard Parson, Chairman and CEO of AOL Time Warner, and remarks by Ambassador M. Nathaniel Barnes, Liberian Ambassador to the UN.
2006 Children's Christmas Party
On December 25, 2006, the MacDella Cooper Foundation (MCF) hosted its second children’s Christmas party in Monrovia, Liberia.
2006 Third Annual Sharing the Light Gala
The MCF 3rd Annual Sharing the Light Gala was held on November 9, 2006 at the New York Landmark on the Park. The event was hosted by Television Talk Show Host, Timberly Whitefield, with keynote remarks by Ambassador M. Nathaniel Barnes, Permanent Representative of Liberia to the United Nations. The evening’s guest speaker was Dr. John Pollock of The College of New Jersey. Mayor Richard Moccia of Norwalk Connecticut was among the 150 guests.
2005 Children's Christmas Party
On December 25, 2005, the MacDella Cooper Foundation (MCF) hosted its first children’s Christmas party in Monrovia, Liberia for over 500 orphans from five different orphanages. The event was held at the Sussie Gunther orphanage on Robert’s Field Highway. Each child received a gift bag that included toys, hair barrets, candies and other goodies . Each child also received a toothbrush in their gift bag.
2005 Second Sharing the Light Gala
The 2nd annual MCF gala was held on November 2, 2005 at the LandMark on the Park. The event was hosted by legendary screen and television actor Gianni Russo, with keynote remarks by the Ambassador of Liberia, Charles A. Minor, and guest speaker Princess Esther Kamateri of Burundi. The event was sponsored by Ferrari USA, LongChamp, Surface Magazine, the Dream Hotel and the New York Knicks.
2005 Michael Thomas Benefit
On April 30, 2005, MCF partnered with the Maccioni Family to host a fundraising benefit brunch for Michael Thomas. The Maccioni family is one of the premier restaurant families in New York. They own the famous Le Cirque & Osteria Del Circo. Michael Thomas is a 27-year-old Liberian refugee who was diagnosed with lymphoma but did not have any health insurance to get medical care. Gina Noonan, one of Michael’s dedicated clients, co-chaired the event.
2004 Gala at Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club
The 1st annual MCF gala was held on Oct 27, 2004 at the Bruno Jamais Restaurant & Club in Manhattan, New York. The event was attended by 100 New Yorkers. The evening was hosted by Ron Pobuda and comedian Peter Jallah. The evening consisted of a cocktail dinner, followed by keynote remarks by Dr. Gloria Dickerson. Sponsors for the event included Moet & Chandon, Surface Magazine, and 2Belles New York.
